Performances at
West Virginia Public Theatre will open its season with Nunsense II: The Second Coming from July 10 - 14, 2013. In the sequel to the beloved Nunsense which charmed our audiences in 2011, the Little Sisters of Hoboken are back for what is billed as a "Thank You" for their supporters. High spirited and zany musical numbers include "Winning is Just the Beginning", "What a Catastrophe", "What Would Elvis Do?", and the "Padre Polka".
Sister Mary Paul (the nun who had been conked on the head with a crucifix and known as Sister Amnesia) remembers that she was a former country singer who had won the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes. Both Reverend Mother and the Franciscans want to claim the newest country-singing sensation as their own.
Nunsense II is full of fun and adventure and will have you dancing in the aisles. You'll be ready to join the sisters in the rousing gospel finale, "There's Only One Way to End Your Prayers and That's To Say Amen!"
West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) proudly presents, for the first time on a West Virginia stage, Les Misérables. The ground breaking musical has won over 90 major theatrical awards and most recently released as a highly acclaimed Golden Globe winning film. Les Misérables will be presented live on stage at the Metropolitain Theatre in Downtown Morgantown on from July 17- 21, 2013.
Epic, grand and spiritually uplifting, Les Misérables has thrilled audiences throughout the world. Based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France, it follows an ex-convict, Jean Valjean, as he seeks redemption. It tells the enthralling story of law, grace, love, passion, and sacrifice.
An unforgettable theatre experience, the remarkable characters and haunting music inhabit the soul. Selections include, "I Dreamed a Dream", "Red and Black", "Master of the House", "In My Life/ A Heart Full of Love" and others.
Presented from July 24-28, 2013, The Fantasticks, a 1960 musical with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, is the only off-Broadway production to win a Tony award, and is the world's longest running musical (Still Playing in New York).
The Fantasticks is a charming and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall. Two neighboring fathers trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud, and building a wall between the two houses. The musical score includes the standards "Try to Remember", "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain".

WVPT will be presenting Happy Days, A New Musical, with music by Oscar winning composer, Paul Williams and book by the TV series creator Garry Marshall from July 31-August 4, 2013. Happy Days, A New Musical reintroduces one of America's best loved families, The Cunningham's, to a whole new generation of kids and parents.
The famed drive-in malt shop and number one hangout, Arnold's, is in danger of demolition, so the gang teams up to save it with a dance contest and a TV-worthy wrestling match. You won't want to miss this power house trip down memory lane.
SCHOOL MATINEES
School Matinees are $6.50 per student and teacher.

Every Holiday Season, we present a family friendly show that thousands of children get the privilege of attending through the school systems at discounted rates. Each year we provide study guides and other material for the teachers and students that attend our Holiday Shows. Our Holiday show for 2012 was Disney's Aladdin. We had over 11,000 students and teachers in attendance from 16 counties in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. For over 16 years, this has been WVPT's mission with its Holiday Show: to draw in the children so that they want to learn more through any avenue possible.
